Study and Working of Power Factor of Devices using Capacitor

Instructions

  • !!! Click in the label to delete all connections for the corrusponding node.
  • Choose a load by clicking on the 'LOAD' button.
  • Make connections by dragging the nodes.
    • Connect input of variac to MCB. 1->11, 2->12 (blue nodes should be connected to blue and red nodes to red)
    • Connect output of variac to the voltmeter. 3->13, 4->14
    • Connect fuse and switch to each other, in series. 16->17, 18->5
    • Then connect positive (output) of variac to fuse-switch arrangement and extend its connection to positive of voltmeter. 13->15
    • Connect negative of ammeter, to M and C of the wattmeter. 9->10, 6->9
    • Connect V of wattmeter to positive of load, and L to negative of load. 8->19, 7->20
    • Finally connect 14->7.
  • Check your connections by clicking on the 'CHECK' button.
  • Turn on the MCB and adjust the value of output voltage on variac, until the voltage is 230V.
  • Click the 'ADD' button to add the values to the observation table.
  • Click the 'CALCULATE' button to calculate the powerfactor of the load.
  • Change the load and repeat the above process, to get powerfactor of all the other loads.
